Born from our inaugural working relationship with Perbadanan Putrajaya, this cozy lakeside café began as an abandoned structure, left forgotten in the heart of the nation’s administrative capital.

Rumah Makan Bumbu is more than a place to eat: it’s a return to the heart of Nusantara flavours. Inspired by the rich culinary heritage of the Malay Archipelago, Rumah Makan Bumbu was born from a desire to preserve and celebrate the bold, layered and soulful taste of traditional cuisine.

Each dish begins with bumbu: a spice base meticulously blended by hand, just like it was in our grandmothers’ kitchens. Chef Syaqim Aimil
14+ Years Culinary Excellence
Chef Syaqim Aimil began his culinary journey at just 15 years old and has since carved out a dynamic and impactful career spanning over a decade. With 14 years of hands-on kitchen experience, he has mastered a diverse range of cuisines from east to west. Currently a consulting chef, Chef Syaqim specializes in steak preparation, menu development, kitchen costing, and creative culinary solutions. His insight into food costing, purchasing, and cost control makes him a valuable asset not only in the kitchen but also in business strategy and operations. For the past two years, he has held the role of Executive Chef, where he played a pivotal role in building a restaurant from the ground up: from designing the kitchen layout to curating the menu and leading the hiring and training of staff. His mentorship has helped shape the careers of over 50 aspiring chefs.

Chef Nazrul Hilmi brings a diverse culinary repertoire to the table, with specialties in Italian, French and Asian cuisines. His expertise lies in creating innovative fusion dishes that seamlessly blend flavours and techniques from different culinary traditions, resulting in unique and memorable dining experiences.
